A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled
"Public health code,"
(MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding section 5151.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 5151. (1) On or before the expiration of 120 days after
the effective date of this section, the department shall create,
operate, and maintain a health assessment website to promote
healthy behaviors by the citizens of this state through education
and awareness. The department shall include on the health
assessment website interactive tools including, but not limited to,
quizzes, step-by-step tutorials, and self assessment tests.
(2) The department shall monitor and evaluate the health
assessment website to ensure usefulness and effectiveness in
promoting healthy behaviors through education and awareness. In
creating, operating, monitoring, and evaluating the health
assessment website under this section, the department shall review
recommendations developed by the science panel on interactive
communication and health that was convened by the United States
department of health and human services and any other information
the department determines is from reputable and scientific sources.
(3) The department shall ensure the privacy and security of
any information submitted to the website by citizens of this state.
The department shall comply with all other provisions of this act,
the mental health code, 1974 PA 258, MCL 330.1101 to 330.2106, or
any other federal or state law establishing privacy and security
standards applicable to health or other personally identifiable
information.
(4) The department shall promote public awareness of the
health assessment website created under this section.
