HOUSE BILL NO. 4997
A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled
"Michigan vehicle code,"
(MCL 257.1 to 257.923) by adding section 638a.
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 638a. (1) A driver shall not drive a vehicle in a two-way left-turn lane for overtaking and passing another vehicle or for traveling except if making an immediate left turn.
(2) An individual who violates this section is responsible for a civil infraction.
(3) As used in this section, "two-way left-turn lane" means a lane that meets both of the following:
(a) Can be used by traffic traveling in either direction as part of a left-turn maneuver.
(b) Is marked on each side of the lane by a normal broken yellow line and a normal solid yellow line, as described in the Michigan manual on uniform traffic control devices, to delineate the edges of the lane.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect unless Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 4998 (request no. 03396'21) of the 101st Legislature is enacted into law.
