HOUSE BILL No. 5215

January 13, 2016, Introduced by Reps. Cole, Rendon, Lauwers, Garcia, LaFontaine, Lucido, Leutheuser, Sheppard, Johnson, Outman and Tedder and referred to the Committee on Natural Resources.

 

     A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled

 

"The Michigan penal code,"

 

(MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 70a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 70a. (1) An individual other than the owner or the

 

authorized agent of the owner of a dog shall not remove a collar

 

from that dog.

 

     (2) An individual who violates subsection (1) is guilty of a

 

misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 90 days or

 

a fine of not less than $100.00 and not more than $1,000.00, or

 

both.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days

 

after the date it is enacted into law.
