A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled
"Public health code,"
(MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding section 5145.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 5145. (1) Except as otherwise provided in this section,
in order to prevent the spread of infectious disease and avoidable
infections and to promote the best practices in sanitation, a
person shall not sell, offer for sale, or transfer to any person in
this state a cleaning product that contains triclosan and is used
by consumers for sanitizing or hand and body cleansing.
(2) This section does not apply to an individual product for
which specific United States food and drug administration approval
for consumer use has been secured.
