HOUSE BILL No. 5952

 

 

May 9, 2018, Introduced by Reps. Yaroch and Marino and referred to the Committee on Elections and Ethics.

 

     A bill to amend 1846 RS 16, entitled

 

"Of the powers and duties of townships, the election and duties of

township officers, and the division of townships,"

 

by amending section 1b (MCL 41.1b), as added by 1989 PA 77.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1b. As used in this act:

 

     (a) "Clerk" means the clerk of a township elected under

 

chapter XVI of the Michigan election law, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.342

 

to 168.373.

 

     (b) (a) "Officer" means a supervisor, treasurer, clerk, or

 

trustee.

 

     (c) (b) "Supervisor" means the supervisor of a township

 

elected under chapter XVI of the Michigan election law, Act No. 116

 

of the Public Acts of 1954, being sections 168.341 to 168.373 of


the Michigan Compiled Laws.1954 PA 116, MCL 168.342 to 168.373.

 

     (d) (c) "Township board" means the township board of a

 

township constituted as provided in section 70.

 

     (d) "Clerk" means the clerk of a township elected under

 

chapter XVI of Act No. 116 of the Public Acts of 1954.

 

     (e) "Treasurer" means the treasurer of a township elected

 

under chapter XVI of Act No. 116 of the Public Acts of 1954.the

 

Michigan election law, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.342 to 168.373.

 

     (f) "Trustee" means a trustee of a township elected under

 

chapter XVI of Act No. 116 of the Public Acts of 1954.the Michigan

 

election law, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.342 to 168.373.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect

 

unless Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 5951 (request no.

 

05055'17) of the 99th Legislature is enacted into law.
