SENATE BILL No. 878

 

 

April 13, 2016, Introduced by Senator SHIRKEY and referred to the Committee on Commerce.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1986 PA 32, entitled

 

"Emergency 9-1-1 service enabling act,"

 

by amending section 405 (MCL 484.1405), as amended by 2011 PA 271.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 405. (1) The Subject to subsection (2), the commission

 

shall consult with and consider the recommendations of the

 

committee in the promulgation of rules under section 413 to require

 

each service user with a multiline telephone system to install no

 

later than December 31, 2016 the necessary equipment and software

 

to provide specific location information of a 9-1-1 call.

 

     (2) This section applies to multiline telephone systems

 

regardless of the system technology. This section only applies to a

 


building that contains an occupied area of more than 40,000 square

 

feet.

 

     (3) As used in this section, "specific location" means a room

 

or unit number, room name, or equivalent unique designation of a

 

portion of a structure or building, to which a 9-1-1 emergency

 

response team may be dispatched.
