1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to utilities; requiring a study for the purpose of reducing regulatory
1.3burdens.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION REGULATORY BURDEN
1.6STUDY.
1.7The Public Utilities Commission must study the reporting and filing obligations
1.8imposed on electric utilities under Minnesota Statutes, chapter 216B. The study must be
1.9done by the commission in consultation and cooperation with representatives of electric
1.10utilities. The purpose of the study is to identify reporting and filing obligations that are
1.11duplicative, outdated, or unnecessary. The commission shall report by February 1, 2013,
1.12to the committees of the legislature with primary jurisdiction over electric energy policy
1.13on the findings of the study and propose legislation amending or repealing laws found to
1.14impose duplicative, outdated, or unnecessary reporting and filing obligations.
1.15EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
