1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 268A.15, subdivision 1a, is amended to
1.7read:
1.8 Subd. 1a. Severe impairment to employment; definition. For the purpose of this
1.9section, "severe impairment to employment" means profound limitations that dramatically
1.10restrict an individual's ability to seek, secure, and maintain employment due to an extended
1.11history of little or no employment, limited education, training, or job skills, and physical,
1.12intellectual, or emotional characteristics seriously impairing future ability to obtain and
1.13retain permanent employment; this definition includes limitations experienced by persons
1.14diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and related conditions.
1.15EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
1.16 Sec. 2. EXTENDED EMPLOYMENT; APPROPRIATION.
1.17$....... is appropriated from the general fund beginning in fiscal year 2013 and each
1.18year thereafter to the commissioner of employment and economic development for
1.19extended employment services for persons with severe impairments to employment,
1.20including persons with autism spectrum disorder and related conditions under Minnesota
1.21Statutes, section 268A.15.
