1.2relating to economic development; modifying requirements of certain grant
1.3programs; appropriating money for Twin Cities RISE!;amending Minnesota
1.4Statutes 2010, section 116J.8747, subdivision 3.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 116J.8747, subdivision 3, is amended to
1.7read:
1.8    Subd. 3. Graduation and retention grant requirements. For purposes of a
1.9placement grant under this section, a qualified graduate is a graduate of a job training
1.10program qualifying under subdivision 2 who is placed in a job in Minnesota that pays at
1.11least $9 per hour or its equivalent plus health care benefits. To qualify for a retention
1.12grant under this section for a retention fee, a job in which the graduate is retained must
1.13pay at least $10 per hour or its equivalent plus health care benefits at the end of the first
1.14year of employment.

1.15    Sec. 2. APPROPRIATION; TWIN CITIES RISE!
1.16$500,000 in fiscal year 2012 and $500,000 in fiscal year 2013 are appropriated
1.17from the general fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development
1.18for a grant under Minnesota Statutes, section 116J.8747, to Twin Cities RISE! to provide
1.19training to hard-to-train individuals. Funds unexpended in the first year are available for
1.20expenditure in the second year.
