1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Blake Beissel of Hastings High School on winning the 2022 State High
1.3School Class 3A boys wrestling championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, individual and team championships are highly sought honors in high school
1.7academics and sports; and
1.8WHEREAS, the 2022 State High School Class 3A boys wrestling tournament was held from
1.9March 3-5, 2022, at the Xcel Energy Center and featured the most talented and prolific wrestlers
1.10in the state; and
1.11WHEREAS, Blake Beissel went 4-0 in his state championship run. He won the first round
1.12with a pin, the quarterfinal match with a 10-0 major decision, and the semifinal match with a 4-0
1.13decision to advance to the final against Davis Parrow of Farmington. Blake and Davis were tied
1.142-2 in overtime when Blake executed a take down with just 16 seconds left in the period to claim
1.15the state championship title at 106 pounds; and
1.16WHEREAS, this was Blake's second trip to the state tournament, improving on a fifth-place
1.17finish in 2021. Blake finished his sophomore season with an outstanding overall record of 53-2;
1.18and
1.19NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.20congratulates Blake Beissel of Hastings High School on winning the 2022 Class 3A state wrestling
1.21championship and commends him on his skill and sportsmanship.
1.22BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.23enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.24Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Blake Beissel.
