1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the Interstate 94 West Corridors of Commerce on the expansion
1.3project between St. Michael and Albertville.
1.4WHEREAS, the current stretch of Interstate 94 (I-94) West between Highway 241 in St.
1.5Michael and County Road 19 in Albertville contributes to 40 percent of the Minnesota Department
1.6of Transportation's Interregional Corridor System's congestion; and
1.7WHEREAS, thanks to the advocacy efforts of I-94 West Corridors of Commerce, the
1.8Minnesota Department of Transportation has awarded $56 million to an expansion project that will
1.9expand I-94 from four to six lanes between Highway 241 in St. Michael and County Road 19 in
1.10Albertville; and
1.11WHEREAS, the St. Michael to Albertville I-94 expansion project has produced proven
1.12results, remaining $17 million under budget, reducing travel delay by 55 percent, and producing
1.13$6.2 million annually in property taxes; and
1.14WHEREAS, the economic benefit to the state and local communities and the time saved by
1.15reducing congestion along this stretch of I-94 will be recognized and appreciated for years to come;
1.16and
1.17WHEREAS, the St. Michael to Albertville I-94 expansion project will reduce travel delay
1.18by more than 330 hours per day, eliminate slightly less than $1 million in crash costs annually, and
1.19make trips on the corridors more reliable; and
1.20NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.21congratulates the Interstate 94 West Corridors of Commerce on the expansion project between St.
1.22Michael and Albertville.
1.23BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.24enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.25Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the Interstate 94 West
1.26Corridors of Commerce.
