Summary

An Act To Reenact Sections 73-67-1 Through 73-67-37, Mississippi Code Of 1972, Which Are The Mississippi Professional Massage Therapy Act; To Amend Reenacted Section 73-67-7, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Define The Term "mississippi State Law Examination"; To Amend Reenacted Section 73-67-21, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Require That A Current Massage Therapy License Must Be Prominently Displayed At All Times In Any Place Where Massage Therapy Is Being Practiced; To Provide That Applicants For Licensure Must Undergo A Fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check; To Amend Reenacted Section 73-67-23, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Revise Certain Eligibility Requirements To Take The Licensure Examination; To Require Applicants For Licensure To Successfully Complete The Mississippi State Law Examination; To Amend Reenacted Section 73-67-25, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That A Provisional Permit Shall Not Be Issued Until An Applicant Has Successfully Completed The Mississippi State Law Examination; To Amend Reenacted Section 73-67-27, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Inform The Code Publisher Of Certain Nonsubstantive Language That Should Be Revised; To Amend Reenacted Section 73-67-29, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That Massage Establishments With Six Or More Licensed Massage Therapists Shall Be Exempt From Certain Advertising Restriction If The Therapy Or Service Is Performed By Persons Licensed Under This Act; To Amend Reenacted Section 73-67-35, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That An Existing Accredited Massage School That Loses Its Accreditation Will Have Three Years From The Date Of Loss Of Its Accreditation To Show Conformance With The Accreditation Requirements; To Increase The Time Within Which Applications Submitted On Evidence Of National Accreditation Must Be Approved Or Denied; To Amend Section 73-67-39, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Extend The Date Of The Repealer On The Mississippi Professional Massage Therapy Act; And For Related Purposes.
