An Act To Establish The Process For Establishing A System For And Awarding Tenure To Teachers Of Public Schools; To Prescribe The Criteria That Would Qualify A Teacher For Tenure; To Authorize Local School Boards To Set Standards Of Employment Or To Maintain Educational Requirements Of The Personnel In Service Beyond That Which Is Required By The State Board Of Education; To Require Teachers To Provide A Minimum Of 30 Days' Notice Of Resignation To The School Superintendent; To Provide That Failure To Give Such Notice Shall Result In The Forfeiture Of All Tenure; To Provide For The Transfer Of Tenure Benefits Under Certain Conditions; To Define Terms Used In This Act; To Provide For The Hearing Of Complaints And Appeals By Person Aggrieved By Notice Of Nonrenewal Or Termination Of Contract; To Amend Section 37-9-101, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Remove The Prohibition On The Legislative Intent Of Not Establishing A System Of Tenure For Teacher; To Bring Forward Sections 37-9-103, 37-9-104, 37-9-105, 37-9-109, 37-9-111, 37-9-113 And 37-3-2, Mississippi Code Of 1972, Which Are Provisions Of The "education Employment Procedures Law Of 2001," For The Purpose Of Possible Amendments; And For Related Purposes.
