Summary
An Act To Create New Section 43-15-12, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Require The Department Of Child Protection Services, Within 30 Days Of Taking A Child Into Custody, To Conduct A Diligent Search For Adult Relatives And Other Persons Having A Significant Relationship With The Child; To Require Notice To Be Given To Relatives Identified Through The Search Of The Child's Removal From Parental Custody And Their Option To Participate In The Child's Placement; To Amend Section 43-15-13, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Require The Department To Place The Child In The Least Restrictive Placement Possible That Is In The Child's Best Interest; To Establish An Order Of Placement Preference For A Child Taken Into Custody; To Create New Section 43-15-14, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Direct The Department Of Child Protection Services To Develop A Plan For Taking The Photographs And Fingerprints Of All Children Who Are In The Custody Of The State Other Than Those In Short-term Temporary Custody And Begin Implementing The Plan On January 1, 2022; And For Related Purposes.
