Summary

An Act To Amend Chapter 879, Local And Private Laws Of 1992, As Last Amended By Chapter 940, Local And Private Laws Of 2011, To Authorize The Governing Authorities Of The City Of Grenada, Mississippi, To Increase The Tourist And Convention Tax Levied Upon The Gross Proceeds Derived From Hotel And Motel Room Rentals And Restaurant Sales In The City; To Provide For An Election On The Question Of Whether Or Not Such Tax May Be Increased; To Provide That Revenue Collected From The Additional Tax Increase Shall Be Used For The Construction, Financing And Operation Of A Sports Park Or Any Other Use That May Promote Tourism As Determined By The City; To Require That Such Revenue Be Placed In An Interest Bearing Tourism Escrow Fund; To Provide That If Such Tax Increase Is Rejected By Voters Then The Current Tax Shall Remain In Full Force And Effect; And For Related Purposes.
