House Bill 1382

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE SCHOOL BOARDS, BOARDS OF SUPERVISORS AND MUNICIPAL GOVERNING AUTHORITIES TO USE DOGS WITH THE ABILITY TO DETECT DIABETES IN SCHOOLS AND PUBLIC PLACES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The school board of any school district, county board of supervisors and any municipal governing authority shall have the authority to use dogs with the ability to detect diabetes in any school or public place.  The school board of any school district, county board of supervisors or any municipal governing authority may acquire or own such dogs or employ a business entity or other organization that offers such service to conduct such detection.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2012.
