AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE TOWN OF ISOLA, MISSISSIPPI, TO ENTER INTO A CERTAIN CONTRACT WITH THE HUMPHREYS COUNTY WATER ASSOCIATION TO PURCHASE WATER FROM THE ASSOCIATION; TO PROVIDE THAT SUCH WATER WILL SUPPLY CERTAIN RESIDENTS OF THE COUNTY WITH WATER SERVICES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) The governing authorities of the Town of Isola, Mississippi, in their discretion, may enter into a contract for a term not to exceed thirty (30) years with the Humphreys County Water Association for the purchase of water from the association on a monthly basis at a rate agreed upon by the parties. The purchase of water by the Town of Isola, which currently provides sewer services to the Bankhead subdivision area, will allow the town to also be the water provider for such area.
(2) In addition to the authority granted in subsection (1) of this section, the town is authorized to bill and collect for water and sewer services that are provided to the residents of the Bankhead subdivision area.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
