House Bill 376

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 25-3-2, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT A COUNTY ELECTED OFFICIAL'S ANNUAL SALARY SHALL NOT BE REDUCED AS A RESULT OF A REDUCTION IN TOTAL ASSESSED VALUATION OR A CHANGE IN POPULATION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 25-3-2, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     25-3-2.  Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, no county elected official's annual salary established under this chapter shall be reduced * * * during his term of office as a result of a reduction in total assessed valuation or a change in population.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2022.
