House Concurrent Resolution 47

(As Adopted by House and Senate)

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF A GREAT CITIZEN AND PUBLIC SERVANT LORENE "LORI" C. MOORE AND EXPRESSING DEEP SYMPATHY UPON HER PASSING.

WHEREAS, Lorene Chanae' Jones-Rucker Moore traversed the river of life to reunite with those souls who answered God's summons from life on earth to life eternal on January 10, 2018; and

WHEREAS, born on October 1, 1981, to Belinda Jones and Carl Rucker, Lori was raised by her mother and maternal grandparents Percy and Lorene Jones of Bolton, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Lori confessed her belief in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, and later became a member of Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, her high intelligence was evident at an early age, as were her unmatched social skills, which made room for her to become a cheerleader, a musician and a leader while a student at Clinton High School, where she graduated with honors; and

WHEREAS, after high school, she attended Spellman College in Georgia, where she earned her bachelor of science degree in history and became an active member of the illustrious sorority of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, a passion for providing service and care to others led Lori to move to Louisiana to work as a Youth Services Specialist in the Allen Memorial Library at Fort Polk Army Base, before returning to Georgia, where she worked as a Professional Affairs Specialist; and

WHEREAS, these various careers laid the foundation for her to secure a position at the Council of State Governments, Southern Legislative Conference (CSG-SLC), where she was an integral member of the team who traveled to various parts of the United States and abroad to promote the work of the CSG-SLC; and

WHEREAS, she married the love of her life, Anthony Darnell Moore, on December 31, 2012, who was both her friend and prayer partner, and to their union a beautiful bouncing baby girl was born, Amaris; and

WHEREAS, after being diagnosed with a debilitating disease, Anthony's devotion to Lorene was inspirational and unwavering, and  bonded by their faith in the Lord and the love of her family, Lori continued to work and serve God and her family; and

WHEREAS, in Lori's transfiguration from mortality to immortality, she now adorns the raiment of a spiritual bride, awaiting the bridegroom's return in holy anticipation of that wondrous event, as it is written in the book of Revelation 21:1-2, "And I saw a new Heaven and a new earth; for the first Heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.  And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of Heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband"; and

WHEREAS, she leaves to cherish her memory:  her beloved husband and daughter, her parents, a stepdaughter, three stepsons, and a host of in-laws, godchildren, aunts, uncles and many friends; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to honor and commend the lives of Mississippians, who dedicate themselves to service of the citizenry, their family and their profession:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life and accomplishments of Mrs. Lorene "Lori" C. Moore, and express deep sympathy to her family and friends upon her passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be provided to Mr. Anthony Darnell Moore, Ms. Belinda Jones, Mr. Carl Rucker and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
