A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING FIRST RESPONDERS ON THE OCCASION OF FIRST RESPONDERS WEEK, THE FIRST WEEK OF MARCH 2016.

     WHEREAS, first responders are everyday heroes who selflessly serve, protect, uphold justice and save lives; and

     WHEREAS, first responders are prepared to assist citizens in emergency situations at all times of day and night; and

     WHEREAS, first responders willingly endure peril, hardship and sacrifice to preserve life without fear for their own safety or the promise of a reward; and

     WHEREAS, first responders undergo rigorous training and obtain a significant amount of education to meet the tremendous requirements to carry out their noble duties; and

     WHEREAS, these pillars of our society serve as volunteers in our schools and community organizations; and

     WHEREAS, the first responders of Mississippi make our communities a safer and more enjoyable place to live; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend those who serve the State of Mississippi as first responders and in so doing recognize their fortitude, humility and concern for others:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize the first week of March as "First Responders Week," and further commend the outstanding individuals, committed to protecting their communities and the State of Mississippi.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Alisa Habeeb, Director of Emergency Medical Services and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
