House Resolution 11
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING NATHAN REED BROWN OF BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA (BSA) TROOP 26 OF IUKA, MISSISSIPPI, ON THE HONOR OF RECEIVING THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD.
WHEREAS, Nathan Reed Brown, son of Henry and Anne Marie Brown, of Iuka, Mississippi, and a member of Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Troop 26, will have the honor of receiving the Eagle Scout Award bestowed upon him on Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Iuka Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, he has met all the requirements and has earned the required merit badges to fulfill his duties and obligations of maintaining and promoting the mission and vision of the Boy Scouts of America, having contributed countless hours in the performance of community service and having earned numerous merit badges; and
WHEREAS, Nathan, a ninth grader at Tishomingo County High School, has been a Scout for a number of years, and his list of community service and extracurricular activities indicate the achievements and the bright future that lies in store for this young Mississippian, as evidenced by the receipt of the Eagle Scout honor; and
WHEREAS, he, along with several of his troop members, undertook as his Eagle Scout project, the daunting task of rehabbing and revitalizing a three-quarter of a mile walking trail at J.P. Coleman State Park, which they appropriately named "Eagle Ridge Trail," complete with aesthetic natural accents and proper safety features; and
WHEREAS, Nathan is an actively engaged student at Tishomingo County High School where he participates on the Freshmen basketball team, and is a member of the Federation of Christian Athletes (FCA) and the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); and
WHEREAS, an individual with a zeal for providing service to others through yeoman's volunteerism, Nathan has endeavored to wholly yield himself to the aid of his family, fellowman and other noteworthy causes through his many involvements; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Nathan Reed Brown of Boy Scouts of America Troop 26 on the honor of receiving the Eagle Scout Award and express heartiest wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Nathan Brown and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
