House Resolution 3
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF MR. ANDRE KEITH GRIFFIN AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY UPON HIS PASSING.
WHEREAS, Mr. Andre Keith Griffin departed this earthly life on January 1, 2015, at the age of 59, causing great sorrow and loss to his family and many friends; and
WHEREAS, born on February 18, 1955, in Greenville, Mississippi, Mr. Griffin, the oldest of his siblings, was reared in Christian love by his caring and devoted parents, Andrew and Dorothy Griffin; and
WHEREAS, knowing the importance of receiving an education, Mr. Griffin attended St. Ignatius High School as well as Roosevelt University, and in 1974, he began what would become a flourishing career in the communications industry at Illinois Bell as an operator; and
WHEREAS, due to the zeal and professionalism in which Mr. Griffin executed his duties at Illinois Bell, he quickly rose in the ranks of the communications industry and soon became a regional manager for Sprint, where he managed and served as a professional role model for nearly 40 sales associates, which spoke to his managerial and professional skills; and
WHEREAS, although Mr. Griffin was thriving in his career, he took an early retirement from Sprint but was still quite active in his community where he treasured coaching the sports teams of his sons and volunteering for Boy Scouts of America, and he also started a tutoring program where he worked as a curriculum consultant, and was an independent computer repair technician; and
WHEREAS, as a young man who accepted Christ at an early age, Mr. Griffin was blessed with a melodious voice that was often highlighted in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church choir, and due to his musical talents and abilities, he would often return to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church to sing and help direct the choir; and
WHEREAS, in addition to being a Christian man, Mr. Griffin, who was affectionately referred to by loved ones, as "Dr. Andre" or "Professor Andre," was a family man who reared, along with his former wife of 15 years and friend, Lisa, and their three children; and
WHEREAS, although Mr. Griffin has crossed the river of life to now stand on golden heavenly shores, the legacy of his memory will continue to live in the hearts of his children, Erica, Aaron and Drew; grandchildren, Liyah, Aaron, Jr., and Arihanna; mother, Dorothy; siblings, Gina, Carmelita, Gregory and Kevin as well as all of his loved ones and many friends; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the life of such an inspiring and caring individual as Mr. Griffin whose life was a beacon of light, strength and love that will be treasured for generations to come:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life and legacy of Mr. Andre Keith Griffin and express deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Andre Keith Griffin and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
