House Resolution 81
(As Adopted by House)
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND HONORING THE BENTON HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1972 UPON THEIR 50TH CLASS REUNION.
WHEREAS, 50 years ago, on May 18, 1972, 56 elite students at Benton High School walked across the graduation stage to receive their hard fought, well-deserved high school diplomas, and now, to remember the good ole' days, the Benton High School Class of 1972 will celebrate its Golden reunion on June 10 through 12, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the Golden reunion will be a joyous occasion filled with copious amounts of blue and gold to remind them of their days of old, and a celebration of life and the many accomplishments of each student since that blessed day; and
WHEREAS, during their senior year at Benton High School, Marilyn Stiff served the class well as President of the Class of 1972; Thomas Frye, Vice President of the Class of 1972, served his role with honor and competence and lent a helping hand whenever it was needed; and as Secretary of the Class of 1972, Barbara Anderson kept her fellow classmates up-to-date with the happenings of Benton High School; and
WHEREAS, the 50-year class reunion for the Benton High School Class of 1972, whose class motto was "We have crossed the stream, but the river lies ahead," will serve as a period of reflection to truly determine how the river of life has treated them, how each of them soared to success, and the manner in which each of their dreams blossomed into realities in much the same way the beautiful, white carnation transitions from bud to flowering masterpiece each year; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the superb accomplishments of fine Mississippians, especially those such as the Benton High School Class of 1972, upon the auspicious occasion of their 50th Golden Class Reunion, which brings honor and glory to Benton High School and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize and honor the Benton High School Class of 1972 upon their 50th Class Reunion, and extend sincere wishes for their happiness on such a momentous occasion.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the members of the Benton High School Class of 1972 and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
