Senate Bill 2402
AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE EXPENDITURE OF STATE FUNDS FOR THE PAYMENT OF PROFESSIONAL, OCCUPATIONAL OR TRADE LICENSE, CERTIFICATE, PERMIT OR REGISTRATION FOR ANY STATE EMPLOYEE OR OFFICER, EXCEPT IN CERTAIN INSTANCES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Except as provided in this section, no state funds shall be used to pay for any kind of professional, occupational or trade license, certificate, permit or registration for any state employee or officer; nor shall any state monies be used to pay for any kind of dues to any professional, occupational or trade association in which membership is restricted to persons who are licensed, certified or registered under Mississippi law. However, this section shall not preclude the state or state departments, agencies or institutions from paying dues or license fees to organizations relating to the employee's or officer's responsibilities in state government, or where such dues or license are part of a requirement of employment.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2015.
