AN ACT TO CREATE NEW SECTION 99-19-79, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO IMPOSE A STATEWIDE MONETARY ASSESSMENT ON LITTER VIOLATIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The following shall be codified as Section 99-19-79, Mississippi Code of 1972:
99-19-79. In addition to any criminal penalties, fines or monetary assessments, there shall be imposed upon and collected from each person upon whom a court imposes a fine or other penalty for any violation of Section 97-15-29, 97-15-30, 97-15-31 or 97-15-32, a state assessment of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) to be deposited into the Statewide Litter Prevention Fund created in Section 64-1-178 using the procedures described in Section 99-19-73.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2014.
