A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to study the replacement of the State health Plan for Teachers and State Employees with a pretax CONTRIBUTION to employees to provide for their own health insurance, as well as other possible changes.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. The Legislative Research Commission is authorized to study the elimination of the State Health Plan for Teachers and State Employees and replacement of the Plan with a pretax contribution to employees that employees could use to purchase their own private insurance or to fund their own health savings account. The Commission may also study any proposal it deems appropriate that would improve the attractiveness and affordability of the Plan for individuals desiring family coverage.
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law.
