STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Nineteen
AN ACT relative to maintenance of roads and highways to summer cottages.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Maintenance of Highways to Summer Cottages; Exemption. Amend RSA 231:79 to read as follows:
231:79 Highways to Summer Cottages; Exemption. Towns shall be exempt from keeping open and repairing highways to summer cottages from December 10 to April 10, subject to RSA 231:81, IV.
2 New Paragraph; Highways to Summer Cottages; Exemption. Amend RSA 231:81 by inserting after paragraph III the following new paragraph:
IV. By a majority vote of the legislative body, a town may extend the exemption period in RSA 231:79 for all highways to summer cottages within the town, but in no event may the period begin earlier than November 15 or end later than April 30. The extended period shall remain in effect until amended or rescinded by majority vote of the legislative body.
3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
