A Supplement to "An Act making appropriations for the support of the State Government and the several public purposes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007 and regulating the disbursement thereof, "  approved July 8, 2006 (P.L.2006, c.45).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    The following language provision is added to section 1 of P.L.2006, c.45 on p. 113:

Notwithstanding the provisions of N.J.A.C.10:49-7.1 et seq. to the contrary and subject to approval by the federal government, the Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services in the Department of Human Services shall increase reimbursement for the following Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) ambulance services provided to Medicaid recipients who are not Medicare eligible: A0428 (nonemergency ambulance services), A0429 (BLS emergency), and A0434 (specialty care transport services).  The reimbursement rate for these services shall be 65% of the applicable Medicare rate for each level of service to providers licensed by the Office of Emergency Medical Services in the Department of Health and Senior Services pursuant to N.J.A.C.8:40-1.1 et seq.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill adds new language to the FY2007 annual appropriations act to require that, subject to approval of the federal government, the Medicaid program would reimburse ambulance providers licensed by the Department of Health and Senior Services at 65% of the applicable Medicare rate for the following ambulance services provided to Medicaid recipients who are not Medicare eligible: emergency and non-emergency ambulance services, and specialty care transport services.
