STATEMENT

This bill directs the lead agency of the New Jersey E-ZPass Group to notify customers or prospective customers, on certain webpages, that discounts on toll rates advertised by an operator of an E-ZPass system that is not under the jurisdiction of the State or one of its agencies, authorities, or political subdivisions may not be available for New Jersey E-ZPass accounts.

The bill defines "lead agency of the New Jersey E-ZPass Group" or "lead agency" as an agency, authority, or political subdivision of this State which has the authority to enter into, manage, or negotiate contracts to provide service to accounts with New Jersey E-ZPass. Currently, the lead agency of the New Jersey E-ZPass Group is the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.
