SYNOPSIS
Requires school districts to file certain evacuation plans with DOE.

An Act concerning school district evacuation plans and supplementing chapter 41 of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. No later than November 1 of each school year, a school district shall submit to the Department of Education an evacuation plan for each building in the school district that addresses the evacuation of students and school personnel who have a disability that affects their mobility. The department shall review the plans to ensure that the plans comply with the provisions of the "Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990," 42 U.S.C. s.12101 et seq., and may require amendments to ensure compliance.
2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall first be applicable to the first full school year following the date of enactment.
STATEMENT
This bill requires that no later than November 1 of each school year, school districts must submit to the Department of Education an evacuation plan for each building in the school district that addresses the evacuation of students and school personnel who have a disability that affects their mobility. The department would review the plans to ensure that the plans comply with the federal "Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990," and may require amendments to ensure compliance.
