SYNOPSIS
Directs NJ DOT to update advisability studies concerning cost difference between using in-house forces versus consultants for bridge inspections, construction inspections, and design projects.

An Act directing the New Jersey Department of Transportation to update certain studies concerning the cost difference between using in-house forces versus consultants.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. The Department of Transportation shall conduct an analysis and prepare a report providing updated findings to:
a. The "Advisability Study FY 2007" concerning the cost difference between bridge inspections conducted by in-house forces versus consultants;
b. The "Advisability Study FY 2007" concerning the cost difference between construction inspections conducted by in-house forces versus consultants; and
c. The "Advisability Study FY 2007" concerning the cost difference between design projects conducted by in-house forces versus consultants.
2. The Department of Transportation shall report the updated findings to the Governor and to the Legislature, pursuant to section 2 of P.L.1991, c.164 (C.52:14-19.1), not later than six months following the effective date of this act.
3. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill directs the New Jersey Department of Transportation (department) to update the "Advisability Study FY 2007" concerning the cost difference between bridge inspections conducted by in-house forces versus consultants, the "Advisability Study FY 2007" concerning the cost difference between construction inspections conducted by in-house forces versus consultants, and the "Advisability Study FY 2007" concerning the cost difference between design projects conducted by in-house forces versus consultants. The bill requires that the department report the updated findings to Governor and the Legislature not later than six months following the effective date of the bill.
