SYNOPSIS

Urges Congress to authorize spending for military construction project at 177th fighter wing of New Jersey Air National Guard.

CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT

As reported by the Assembly Military and Veterans' Affairs Committee on December 11, 2014, with amendments.

An Assembly Resolution urging Congress to authorize spending for a military construction project at the 177th 1[fighter wing] Fighter Wing1 of the New Jersey Air National Guard.

Whereas, The 177th 1[fighter wing] Fighter Wing1 of the New Jersey Air National Guard has been located at the Atlantic City International Airport in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey since 1958; and

Whereas, The 177th 1[fighter wing] Fighter Wing1 has had active involvement in Operations Southern Watch, Northern Watch, Noble Eagle, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom; and

Whereas, The 177th 1[fighter wing] Fighter Wing1 currently has two aircraft maintenance facilities that are inadequate and undersized for their intended purpose; and

Whereas, In their current condition, these facilities represent a significant limitation to the daily maintenance and sustainability of New Jersey's F-16 air fleet, and neither building meets current Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or Air Force Occupational Safety and Health (AFOSH) standards; and

Whereas, Congress has proposed a $10.2 million military construction project to combine and replace both facilities; and

Whereas, The project will incorporate energy and sustainability concepts so as to achieve optimum resource efficiency, while minimizing adverse impacts to the environment; and

Whereas, The new facility would permit increased production capability and be in compliance with OSHA and AFOSH standards, providing a safer work environment; and

Whereas, The new facility would provide the 177th 1[fighter wing] Fighter Wing1 with the capability to handle the next generation of advanced aircraft; and

Whereas, It is in the best interest of our State and our nation to urge Congress to authorize spending for the military construction project at the 177th 1[fighter wing] Fighter Wing1 of the New Jersey Air National Guard; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

     1.  The General Assembly of the State of New Jersey hereby urges Congress to authorize spending for the military construction projects at the 177th 1[fighter wing] Fighter Wing1 of the New Jersey Air National Guard.
