SYNOPSIS

     Specifies certain requirements for approval of a charter school application.

An Act concerning the application for a charter school and supplementing P.L.1995, c.426 (C.18A:36A-1 et seq.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    An application for a charter school shall not be approved unless the applicant has received from the local municipal enforcing official a certificate of occupancy for the  facility in which the school will be located and has provided written documentation to the commissioner that the applicant has adequate financial reserves to lease or purchase the facility and to operate the school.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill provides that an application for a charter school would not be approved unless the applicant has received from the local municipal enforcing official a certificate of occupancy for the facility in which the school will be located and has provided written documentation to the commissioner that the applicant has adequate financial reserves to lease or purchase the facility and to operate the school.
