SYNOPSIS
Requires pet shops to install and operate surveillance cameras inside and outside business and retain footage for at least 60 days.

An Act concerning certain requirements for pet shops and supplementing P.L.1941, c.151 (C.4:19-15.1 et seq.)
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. In addition to the requirements imposed pursuant to sections 8 and 14 of P.L.1941, c.151 (C.4:19-15.8 and C.4:19-15.14), no later than 60 days after the effective date of this act, each pet shop in the State shall install and operate, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, surveillance cameras throughout the pet shop, to provide recorded video surveillance of all areas of the pet shop, inside and outside, on the property of the pet shop. Each pet shop shall retain the footage from the surveillance cameras for at least 60 days.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill requires each pet shop in the State, no later than 60 days after the effective date of the bill, to install and operate, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, surveillance cameras throughout the pet shop, to provide recorded video surveillance of all areas of the pet shop, inside and outside, on the property of the pet shop. The bill also requires each pet shop to retain the footage from the surveillance cameras for at least 60 days.
