     Permits installation of GPS navigation devices which do not obstruct a motor vehicle operator's vision.

An Act concerning motor vehicle navigation systems and supplementing Title 39 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    Notwithstanding the provisions of R.S.39:3-74 to the contrary, a global positioning system navigation device may be mounted or located in a position on a motor vehicle's dashboard, console, or windshield, provided that the device is mounted or located in such a position that it does not unduly restrict or interfere with the vision of the motor vehicle's operator.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill would permit the installation of a motor vehicle global positioning system navigation device on the dashboard, console, or windshield of a motor vehicle, provided that  the device is mounted or located in a position that does not unduly restrict or interfere with the vision of the operator of that motor vehicle.
