SYNOPSIS
Requires an institution of higher education that receives State support to suspend a student for a second violation of cheating on an examination.

An Act concerning student discipline at institutions of higher education and supplementing chapter 3B of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. In addition to any other sanctions imposed upon a student, an institution of higher education which receives State support shall suspend a student for a minimum of one academic year upon a determination by the institution that the student is guilty of a second violation of cheating on an examination. The institution shall make its determination in accordance with procedural standards established by the governing board of the institution for the adjudication of student discipline cases.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill provides that an institution of higher education that receives State support must suspend a student for a minimum of one academic year upon a determination by the institution that the student is guilty of a second violation of cheating on an examination. The suspension will be in addition to any other sanctions that may be imposed upon the student by the institution.
