CRUZ, GLICK, MAGNARELLI, TAYLOR, SEAWRIGHT, LEVENBERG, HEVESI, GONZALEZ-ROJAS, FORREST, RAGA -- read once and referred to the Committee on Correction AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to available transporta- tion for correction facility visitation The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The correction law is amended by adding a new section 138-b 2 to read as follows: 3 § 138-b. Visitor transportation. In conjunction with the incarcerated 4 individual visiting program, the department shall provide transportation 5 for visitors to correctional facilities on a regular basis, but no less 6 than bimonthly, at no cost to visitors. Transportation shall be provided 7 from the city of New York, Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo and Albany to 8 correctional facilities, as determined by the commissioner. Information 9 concerning transportation shall be posted on the department's public 10 website, and shall be available from the telephone number designated, 11 pursuant to section one hundred thirty-eight-a of this article. Notice 12 of available transportation shall be provided to incarcerated individ- 13 uals upon reception and upon transfer to a new correctional facility. 14 § 2.
