STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 739--A 2021-2022 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY (Prefiled) January 6, 2021 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. D. ROSENTHAL -- read once and referred to the Committee on Judiciary -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the family court act, in relation to the hours of opera- tion for family courts The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision (a) of section 161 of the family court act is 2 amended to read as follows: 3 (a) The days and hours the court is open shall be as provided by rule 4 of court; provided, however, the family court in each county within the 5 city of New York shall remain open until midnight on at least one week- 6 day each week. The clerk of the court in such family courts shall 7 accept, until at least eleven o'clock p.m., petitions filed pursuant to 8 articles three, six, eight, and ten of this act on such weekday. Any 9 matter pursuant to any article of this act may be heard by the court 10 until midnight on such weekday. 11 § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of April next succeeding 12 the date on which it shall have become a law.
