       AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to speedy  trial
         time limitations for traffic infractions
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 30.30 of  the  criminal  procedure
    2  law is amended by adding a new paragraph (e) to read as follows:
    3    (E)  SIXTY  DAYS OF THE COMMISSION OF AN OFFENSE WHEREIN THE DEFENDANT
    4  IS ACCUSED OF A TRAFFIC INFRACTION AS THAT TERM IS DEFINED  IN  SUBDIVI-
    5  SION TWO OF SECTION 10.00 OF THE PENAL LAW.
    6    S  2.  Subdivision 2 of section 30.10 of the criminal procedure law is
    7  amended by adding a new paragraph (e) to read as follows:
    8    (E) A PROSECUTION FOR A TRAFFIC INFRACTION MUST  BE  COMMENCED  WITHIN
    9  SIXTY DAYS AFTER THE COMMISSION THEREOF.
   10    S 3. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed-
   11  ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
