          FER AMATO, RAGA,  D. ROSENTHAL,  ROZIC,  SEAWRIGHT,  SEPTIMO,  SIMONE,
          ZACCARO,  RA, BRAUNSTEIN -- read once and referred to the Committee on
          Election Law -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered  reprinted
          as amended and recommitted to said committee

        AN  ACT  to  amend  the election law, in relation to the dates to file a
          designating petition; and providing for the repeal of such  provisions
          upon expiration thereof

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 6-158 of the election law is amended  by  adding  a
     2  new subdivision 1-a to read as follows:
     3    1-a.  Notwithstanding  the  time  fixed  in  subdivision  one  of this
     4  section, for the year two thousand twenty-three, such designating  peti-
     5  tion required to be filed by such subdivision shall be filed not earlier
     6  than the thirteenth Monday before, and not later than the twelfth Monday
     7  preceding the primary election.
     8    §  2.  Section  6-134  of  the election law is amended by adding a new
     9  subdivision 4-a to read as follows:
    10    4-a. Notwithstanding the  time  fixed  in  subdivision  four  of  this
    11  section, for the year two thousand twenty-three, a signature made earli-
    12  er than forty-one days before the last day to file designating petitions
    13  for the primary election shall not be counted.
    14    §  3. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire December
    15  31, 2023 when upon such date the provisions of this act shall be  deemed
    16  repealed.
