BENDETT -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Governmental Employees -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee -- again reported from said committee with amendments, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT in relation to making eligible for provisional appointment and authorizing Paul Strobel to take the competitive civil service exam- ination for the position of police officer and be placed on the eligi- ble list for employment as a part-time police officer for the Columbia County Sheriff's Office The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil 2 service law, or any other law to the contrary, the county of Columbia 3 shall be authorized to appoint Paul Strobel as a provisional part-time 4 deputy sheriff until such time he is able to take the competitive civil 5 service examination and be appointed as a permanent part-time deputy 6 sheriff; and further Paul Strobel shall be eligible to take the compet- 7 itive civil service examination for the position of police officer and 8 shall be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a 9 part-time police officer for the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. 10 § 2. Paul Strobel shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness 11 provisions of the civil service law applicable to part-time police offi- 12 cers. 13 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
