        AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to requiring the periodic
          inspection of commercial buildings where bicycles with electric assist
          are sold, rented, or stored for sale or rental

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 378 of the executive law is amended by adding a new
     2  subdivision 20 to read as follows:
     3    20.  Standards  for  fire  safety  inspections of commercial buildings
     4  where bicycles with electric assist are sold, rented, or stored for sale
     5  or rental requiring an appropriate and qualified  inspector,  as  deter-
     6  mined  by  the  local  government,  to  perform  a quarterly fire safety
     7  inspection of any  commercial  building  where  bicycles  with  electric
     8  assist are sold, rented, or stored for sale or rental. The council shall
     9  establish a reasonable fee for such inspection within forty-five days of
    10  the  effective date of this subdivision. For the purposes of this subdi-
    11  vision, "bicycle with electric assist" shall have the  same  meaning  as
    12  section one hundred two-c of the vehicle and traffic law.
    13    §  2.  This  act  shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall
    14  have become a law.
