STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 7005 2023-2024 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY May 10, 2023 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. BEEPHAN -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT to amend the public service law, in relation to requiring the public service commission to distribute penalty awards received from public utilities to customers aggrieved by the actions of the public utility The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 25 of the public service law is amended by adding a 2 new subdivision 6-a to read as follows: 3 6-a. Any payment made by a public utility company, corporation or 4 person and the officers, agents and employees thereof as a result of an 5 action as provided in section twenty-four of this article shall be paid 6 by the commission, after collection of such amount, to the customers of 7 the public utility company or corporation aggrieved by the actions of 8 the public utility company or corporation that resulted in the penalty 9 being imposed. Such payment to customers shall be made by check issued 10 by the commission or by a credit to the aggrieved customer's accounts, 11 as determined by the commission. 12 § 2.
