STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 7545 2023-2024 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY May 25, 2023 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. ZINERMAN -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to higher education fund- ing opportunities for foster youth The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 355 of the education law is amended by adding a new 2 subdivision 22 to read as follows: 3 22. The commissioner, in conjunction with the commissioner of the 4 office of children and family services, shall create and display in a 5 visually conspicuous manner posters, pamphlets, or other written materi- 6 als regarding state and federally operated programs that provide funding 7 opportunities for foster youth at the higher education institutions of 8 the State University of New York and City University of New York, as 9 well as the eligibility requirements for such programs. Such information 10 shall be displayed at admissions and financial aid offices located on 11 the premises of such institutions, as well as on such institutions' 12 websites, the website of the department, and the website of the office 13 of children and family services. 14 § 2.
