       AN ACT to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation to  provid-
         ing the definition of integrated pest management
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Subdivisions 1, 2, and 3 of section 148 of the  agriculture
    2  and markets law are renumbered subdivisions 2, 3, and 4 and a new subdi-
    3  vision 1 is added to read as follows:
    4    1.  FOR  PURPOSES OF THIS ARTICLE "INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT" MEANS A
    5  SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO MANAGING  PESTS  THAT  UTILIZES  A  DIVERSITY  OF
    6  MANAGEMENT  OPTIONS TO MINIMIZE HEALTH, ENVIRONMENTAL AND ECONOMIC RISKS
    7  AND IMPACTS. THESE OPTIONS MAY INCLUDE  BIOLOGICAL,  CULTURAL,  PHYSICAL
    8  AND  CHEMICAL  TOOLS  TO  PREVENT  PEST  INFESTATIONS  OR REDUCE THEM TO
    9  ACCEPTABLE LEVELS.
   10    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
