          Committee on Health
        AN ACT to amend the social services  law,  in  relation  to  prohibiting
          prior authorization for the dispensing of buprenorphine for the treat-
          ment of opioid addiction
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Section 364-j of the social  services  law  is  amended  by
     2  adding a new subdivision 26-a to read as follows:
     3    26-a.  No  managed care provider shall require prior authorization for
     4  any prescription or renewal thereof for the dispensing of  buprenorphine
     5  which is prescribed as a treatment for opioid addiction.
     6    §  2. This act shall take effect immediately, provided that the amend-
     7  ment to section 364-j of the social services law, made by section one of
     8  this act, shall not affect the expiration and repeal  of  such  section,
     9  and shall expire and be deemed repealed therewith.
