          Committee on Transportation
        AN ACT to amend the highway law,  in  relation  to  designating  certain
          portions  of  the  state  highway  system  as the "FDNY Lt. and NY Air
          National Guard Master Sgt.  Christopher Raguso Memorial Highway"
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-h to
     2  read as follows:
     3    §  344-h.  Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the
     4  "FDNY Lt. and NY Air National Guard Master Sgt. Christopher Raguso Memo-
     5  rial Highway".  All that portion of the highway system constituting  the
     6  Jericho  Turnpike, beginning at the interchange of Elwood Road, continu-
     7  ing in a generally easterly direction, and terminating at  St.  Johnland
     8  Road, shall be designated and known as the "FDNY Lt. and NY Air National
     9  Guard Master Sgt. Christopher Raguso Memorial Highway".
    10    §  2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
    11  lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state  highway  system
    12  as  designated  pursuant  to  section one of this act. However, to avoid
    13  confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce,  the  desig-
    14  nation  called  for  pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of
    15  ceremonial nature and the official name of such  highway  shall  not  be
    16  changed as a result of this act.
    17    §  3.  This  act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
    18  have become a law.
