KRUGER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to requiring the New York state department of health to develop and post signage describing the importance of hand hygiene in all restrooms, gymnasiums and locker rooms located in public and private schools THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Article 13 of the public health law is amended by adding a 2 new title 8-A to read as follows: 3 TITLE VIII-A 4 HAND HYGIENE IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS 5 SECTION 1358. HAND HYGIENE IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS. 6 S 1358. HAND HYGIENE IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS. 1. THE COMMISSION- 7 ER SHALL PROMULGATE RULES AND REGULATIONS (A) ESTABLISHING SIGNAGE 8 OUTLINING THE IMPORTANCE OF HAND HYGIENE GUIDELINES FOR THE PREVENTION 9 OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASES AND (B) PROVIDING FOR SUCH SIGNAGE TO BE POSTED 10 IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE OR PLACES INSIDE THE RESTROOMS, GYMNASIUMS AND 11 LOCKER ROOMS OF ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. 12 2. SUCH REGULATIONS SHALL INCLUDE CLEAR AND CONCISE LANGUAGE IN AT 13 LEAST TWELVE POINT BOLDFACE TYPE OUTLINING THE GUIDELINES FOR HAND SANI- 14 TIZATION AND ITS IMPORTANCE IN REDUCING THE OUTBREAK AND TRANSMISSION OF 15 COMMUNICABLE DISEASES. 16 S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. Effective immediately, 17 the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation neces- 18 sary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are 19 authorized and directed to be made and completed on or before such 20 effective date.
