GOLDEN -- (at request of the State Comptroller) -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance -- recommitted to the Committee on Finance in accordance with Senate Rule 6, sec. 8 -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said commit- tee AN ACT to amend the state finance law, in relation to the direct deposit of certain salaries The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 4 of section 200 of the state 2 finance law, as amended by chapter 641 of the laws of 1997, is amended 3 to read as follows: 4 (a) (i) Upon the written request from a state employee hired on or 5 before January first, two thousand seventeen, the comptroller may cause, 6 in accordance with the rules and regulations promulgated pursuant to 7 paragraph (b) of this subdivision, such employee's net salary, or any 8 portion thereof designated by the employee, to be deposited directly in 9 a bank for any purpose to an account in the name of such employee, on 10 forms provided by the comptroller, and duly filed in accordance with 11 such regulations. 12 (ii) On and after January first, two thousand seventeen, the comp- 13 troller shall cause, in accordance with the rules and regulations 14 promulgated pursuant to paragraph (b) of this subdivision, a state 15 employee's net salary to be deposited directly in a bank for any purpose 16 to an account in the name of such employee, on forms provided by the 17 comptroller, and duly filed in accordance with such regulations. 18 Provided, however, such employee may submit a request for exemption from 19 the provisions of this subparagraph on a form provided by the comp- 20 troller.
