STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 5643 2017-2018 Regular Sessions IN SENATE April 24, 2017 ___________ Introduced by Sen. KLEIN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to directing the commissioner of health, in consultation with the commissioner of transportation, to establish rules and regulations for ambulances The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Short title. This act shall be known and be cited as 2 "Janet's law". 3 § 2. Section 206 of the public health law is amended by adding a new 4 subdivision 31 to read as follows: 5 31. The commissioner shall, in consultation with the commissioner of 6 transportation, establish rules and regulations for ambulances in order 7 to ensure the safety of passengers and the public at large. Such rules 8 and regulations shall include, but shall not be limited to, the minimum 9 age of ambulance drivers, the allowable number of consecutive hours an 10 ambulance driver may work, and the requisite training an ambulance driv- 11 er shall receive prior to driving any ambulance. 12 § 3.
